Men Try to "Fix It"

We guys can fix anything, right?
Well, I sat silently for over 25 years thinking I had it all together while my inside was rotting inside out. You see, men are hardwired to do and fix a problem, and when they do not know how to do that they typically avoid or run away.
When I was just 15½ years old, the call came to my parents telling them my girlfriend was pregnant. The decision was made to go to the hospital for the newly legal procedure. Our life went on and I turned to more sex, drugs, and rock & roll, and in my senior year in high school my new girlfriend came to me with the same news… "I'm pregnant!" I thought to myself, "this time I'm going to do the right thing and have this baby." Then the sit down talk came with her dad and the decision was made to abort that baby, too.
As I looked into the mirror later on in life and as I looked head on into what I let happen, I thought "what kind of a man would do that to his child?! What kind of a man would not fight harder for the life of his child?"
It was that realization that brought me to my knees.
I want to help you understand that if you have an abortion in your past, you probably have been trying to avoid it because you didn't know how to fix it. Women perceive this avoidance as men don't care because they're not all teary and emotional about the tragic event. With that interpretation it's not unusual for the female partner to "impress upon the man how they should feel." Men perceive this as an attack and their "fight or flight" kicks in. The issue of the abortion goes unresolved. Just in the U.S. alone, there have been over 50 million abortions since the 1973 court decision of Roe v Wade. And for every woman who has had an abortion, a man has been involved.
I'm not sure where you are as you read this page. Maybe you're just curious for a friend or you have been part of an abortion in your past. I have to tell the journey is worth it and you can't fix it alone. You will need earthly and Heavenly support! I think the following link, Men Hurt Too, may help. Read it over and allow yourself to begin the healing journey.
It took a lot of guts to get you here and may the Lord and our Savior bless YOUR journey, too. If you are hurting, call 866.482.LIFE today or check out our weekend healing retreats.
